Surgical Management of Deep Teat Laceration in a Cow

Abstract

A crossbred Holstein Friesian cow calved three hours before was presented with history of self-injured laceration in right hind teat. Clinical examination revealed deep teat laceration involving both muscular and cutaneous layer in right hind teat. Under ring block, the muscular layer was closed using PGA and cutaneous sutures were done using polypropylene. The animal showed uneventful recovery on tenth post-operative day after regular wound dressing along with post-operative medication.
