Abstract

122 Dogs with dermatological affections were subjected to woods lamp screening, direct microscopic examination of skin scrapping and cultural isolation. 18 Dogs were found positive for dermatomycosis on basis of clinico-mycological diagnostic studies. 6 of them emitted fluorescence on woods lamp screening. Direct microscopic examination of hair proved positive in one dog. The percent positivity indicated Microsporum gypseum 9 (50%) followed by Microsporum canis 6 (33%) and Tricophyton mentagrophyte 3 (17%).
