Abstract A four year old Kankrej bullock was presented with history of anorexia since last two days, drooling of saliva, lethargy, hardening of tongue and inability to retract back. Physical examination revealed characteristic hard curvature of tongue with granulomatous growth (wooden tongue). Based on clinical examination, bacterial cultural isolation and hematobiochemistry, the case was diagnosed as actinobacillosis caused by Actinobacillus lignieresii. Therapeutic management included antibiotic therapy with Oxytetracycline along with fluid therapy as well as topical application of Potassium iodide powder daily for 10 consecutive days. Bullock recovered uneventfully 15 days post-treatment with normal feed and water intake. Top Keywords Actinobacillosis, bullock, hematology, microbiology. Top |
