Online published on 2 April, 2016. Abstract The present report describes Ehrlichia canis infection in six thrombocytopenic dogs and role of Tranexamic acid in controlling bleeding. Dogs with history of epistaxis, dullness, depression, anorexia and high fever were observed with tachycardia, enlarged pre scapular lymph nodes and pale mucus membranes. Diagnosis was confirmed by heamatobiochemistry and microscopic examination of peripheral blood smears. All dogs were successfully treated with Doxycycline, Prednisolone, Tranexamic acid and supportive therapy. Tranexamic acid was found to be effective haemostatic drug in controlling nasal bleeding in canine ehrlichiosis without any adverse effect along with Doxycyline.
