Abstract

A clinical study was undertaken to evaluate therapeutic effect of Cefpodoxime proxetil in management of deep canine pyoderma. Clinical diagnosis was undertaken based on macroscopic skin lesions and laboratory examination of clinical samples. Dogs showed signs of alopecia, erythema, folliculitis, comedone, papule, pustule with hair matting with scab formation and itching. Nine dogs treated with Cefpodoxime at the dose rate of 10 mg/kg b.wt. once daily orally showed 88.88% recovery with a mean period of 22 ± 4 days. Improvement was noticed after five days of treatment.
