Online published on 2 April, 2016. Abstract With history of sudden death in three cattle, an investigation study was undertaken. Upon external carcass examination, there was unclotted blood oozing from nostrils and anal orifice. Another five ailing cattle showed clinical signs viz high temperature, shivering or twitching, dyspnoea, dry dung mixed with blood and absence of ruminal contractions. Blood smears from dead animals were positive for Bacillus anthracis organisms. Based on history and blood smear examination, anthrax was diagnosed and control measures were undertaken on priority. The ailing animals were isolated and treated with Streptomycin sulphate, Procaine Penicillin and Penicillin-G sodium along with Meloxicam and parenteral vitamins. All ailing cattle recovered after 7 days of therapy. The dead animal carcasses, feed, manure, bedding materials were buried deeply and mass vaccination was undertaken resulting in no further outbreaks. Top Keywords Acute, anthrax, bovine, management.
