Online published on 2 April, 2016. Abstract This retrospective study attempts to record clinico-pathological and therapeutic aspects of pasturella pneumosepticemia in adult sheep and lambs. Higher incidence was observed during monsoon and immediate post monsoon. Manifestation of septicaemia is pronounced in lambs while adult animals mostly showed sub-acute pneumonic symptoms. Pasturella sp. was isolated and identified from pathological specimens and subjected to antibiotic sensitivity on basis of which suitable antibiotics and adjuvant therapy were adopted. Clinical cure after treatment was about 50%. Post mortem lesions and histopathology were suggestive of pneumosepticemia. Recovered animals fail to gain weight suffered from co-morbidities like parasitemia and chronic pneumonia and became early cullers. Biannual vaccination is recommended prior to risk season and nutritional supplementations are advised prior to stress periods. Top Keywords Pasturella, pneumonia, ovine, septicaemia. Top | |
