Abstract Clinical study was conducted in 30 bovines post calving to evaluate therapeutic efficacy of intra uterine herbal drug for management of retention of placenta. Administration of 4 boli consisting of Quercus infectoria, Cissampelos pareira. Curcuma longa, Mentha piperita and Tankankshar in each resulted in explulsion of placenta within 5.5, 0.49 and 4.4 hrs of calving with cessation of lochial discharge in preventive treatment, treatment with manual removal and treatment without removal groups, respectively. It was concluded that efficacy of Ropitas without removal of placenta and with preventive approach was found to be superior over conventional therapy in bovines.
