Online published on 6 April, 2015. Abstract Twelve buffaloes presented for failure of parturition due to incomplete cervical dilatation were enrolled for the study. Six buffaloes (Group 1) were treated with Dinoprostone gel @ 3 gm application in anterior part of vagina on cervix along with inj. Valethamate bromide @ 40 mg/kg b.wt. IV. Six buffaloes (Group 2) were treated with inj. Valethamate bromide @ 40 mg/kg b.wt. IV alone. The combination therapy of Dinoprostone gel @ 3 gm and Valethamate bromide @ 40 mg/kg b.wt. was found effective in buffaloes for cervical dilatation within 6.5 hrs of treatment whereas inj. Valethamate bromide took 21 hrs for the same. The concurrent use was found to be better and faster as compared to Valethamate bromide alone.
