Abstract Two cases of prostatitis in intact male German shepherd dogs are reported. The presenting clinical signs were high temperature (104.2° to 105.6°F), marked haematuria, dripping of blood from prepuce, micturation, uneasiness, increased frequency of urination with very small volume of urine, pain syndrome and reduced appetite. Urine examination revealed abundance of erythrocytes and micro-organisms. Rectal palpation elicited pain. Ultrasonography revealed increased prostate size with areas of increased echogenicity.
