Abstract

To ascertain the cause of death in a cross bred pig at Bairabi Animal Check Gate, Kolasib district of Mizoram, the carcass was subjected to thorough post mortem examination. The samples collected were processed for histopathology and tested by Reverse transcription-PCR for presence of CSFV nucleic acid. Metastrongylus apri infestation of lungs was found on postmortem examination. RT-PCR for 5’NTR, NS5b, Ems and nested RT-PCR for E2 regions of CSFV with published primers was found positive. The results revealed that both pathogens can aggravate the severity disease caused by them individually.
