Abstract Oestrosis is a nasal myiasis of sheep and goats caused by the larvae of fly Oestrus ovis. An adult male Sirohi goat died with the history of muco-purulent nasal discharge, laboured breathing, depression and head pressing. The post-mortem examination revealed aberrant, unilateral encephalitis characterized by severe necrosis of entire left cerebral hemisphere.
