Abstract The present study was undertaken in 120 Japanese quails to assess the clinical and pathomorphological changes along with their egg quality in diclofenac toxicity. The birds fed with diclofenac Na @ 0.5mg/kg for two months revealed anorexia, emaciation, dehydration, depression, letharginess and feather plucking. In few cases, joints were painful and swollen with lameness and the birds were unable to stand. There was no significant variation in the mean values of egg weight, egg length, egg width and shell Index in birds in between the groups but egg shell thickness showed significant decrease with poor pigmentation in diclofenac group. On post mortem examination, grossly, the visceral organs revealed chalky white deposition while microscopically showed tophi of urates when stained with De Galantha stain.
