Abstract Mitral valve insufficiency is the most common heart disease in dogs accounting for 70 - 80 % of the cardiac disorders. 75% is seen in geriatric patients more than ten years of age, and is most commonly reported in males of small breeds. Electrocardiographic, echocardiographic and histopathological features of myxomatous degeneration of mitral valve in an old, medium sized female dog is described here.
