Abstract Eleven carcases of spotted deer (Axis axis) referred for necropsy to Pathology Department of Veterinary College was found to be severely infested with Fasciola gigantica. Grossly, liver showed a number of round nodules with clotted blood and necrosis. Fasciola parasites could be squeezed out of the opened lesions. Haemorrhagic ascites was a consistent feature. Glandular appearance of bile duct, marked periportal and pericellular fibrosis and necrosis along with the presence of parasites in the parenchyma were the salient histopathological findings.
