Summary

The present study was conducted in two selected districts belonging to arid region of Rajasthan. A total of 120 pastoral families, 12 veterinary officers and 15 traditional healers were identified from 12 selected villages of the two districts. The pattern of disease among pastoral flocks indicated that pica, pneumonia and pox were the most common while contagious ecthyma and enterotoxaemia were comparatively least prevalent diseases in small ruminants. The rank correlation was significant for small ruminants diseases among all the three categories of respondents according to their frequency of occurrence while it was not significant according to their economic importance.
