Analysis of women victimization in West Bengal

Abstract

This paper is based on crime against women that has occurred in the districts of West Bengal. District level analysis has been done in order to identify the district where the incidences against women has occurred the most. Further, crime rate of 1981, 1991, 2001 and 2011 has been emphasised to understand the trends and pattern of offences against women. Apart from that, crimes against women during 2011 is discussed in detail explaining the distribution of total crime against women, total head wise crime expressed in percentage as well as represented them through maps and in several forms of graph. Socio-economic indicators have been taken to see their correlation in order to explain the reasons of causes of crimes against women.
