Abstract The occurrences of crime against women are imbued in spaces as well as in the socio-economic profiles of the places. In this study an emphasis has been made to identify the elements of the spaces and the socio-economic variables that lead towards victimization of women in the district Darjeeling of West Bengal. A comparative analysis of crime against women in the regional division (hill and terai) of Darjeeling has been done; a correlation method is used to identify the variables that have its bearing on crime against women. The other aim of this paper is to explain the regional variationin crime rate. The data pertaining to this study has been collected from SP office Darjeeling and Commissionerate office, Siliguri, Darjeeling for the year 2004 to 2014.
