Online published on 16 December, 2014. Abstract Engaged employees can be considered as a competitive advantage for organizations. Work engagement and factors contributing to identify it has become an interesting topic in recent organizational behavior studies. This study aimed to determine the impacts of organizational policies on work engagement in public sector. This is a cross sectional study. Correlation and regression analysis were used to test a sample of 420 employees in five organizations. The findings indicated that there is a significant correlation between organizational policies and work engagement. Nevertheless, temporal flexibility as a subscale of organizational policies was in a low level and could not predict work engagement in contrast to the other two subscales of organizational policies (operational flexibility and supportive supervisor).
