Abstract The purpose of this study was to Comparing the Effects of Traditional, Religious, and Pop Music on Student Mental Health at University of Sistan and Baluchestan. To this end, reviewing the conducted research and using the research literature, the dimensions and components associated with the concept of music and mental health have been discovered. Based on the variables a questionnaire relying on 28 questions has been developed, the validity of which was confirmed by an esteemed professor. The statistical population of the study consists of the The statistical population of this study includes all students of University of Sistan and Baluchestan, Iran, in the school year 2013–14. the sample size of which was determined as many as 51 volunteered as participants. 42 of them were put into the experimental group and 9 of them formed the control group. In the experimental group, 12 participants listened to traditional music, 12 participants listened to religious music, and 18 participants listened to pop music. After collecting the questionnaires distributed, data obtained through descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were analyzed using 18 SPSS software. The results suggest that all three types of traditional, religious and popular music gave a positive impact on mental health.
