The relationship between the five characteristics of personality and the styles of confronting stress and creativity in the undergraduate girl students of Shahid Chamran University, Iran Golnezhad Fatemeh Master of Arts in Educational Psychology, Faculty of Educational Sciences and Psychology, Al Zahra University, Tehran, Iran Online published on 12 June, 2014. Abstract Any society requires specialist and creative members in order to achieve development. The country's education system is responsible for the main task of providing these creative forces. The present study was aimed to investigate the relationship between the five characteristics of personality and the style of confronting stress and creativity in female students. The method of the study was descriptive-correlative. The population consisted of girl students of Shahid Chamran University. According to the multi-stage sampling method and based on Morgan table, 325 persons were chosen and were tested by using Neo's five factors characteristic questionnaire, Abedi's questionnaire (1993) and Andler and Parker's styles of confronting stress questionnaire. The data were analyzed through Pearson correlation coefficient statistical method and multiple regression analysis. The findings demonstrated that there was a significant relationship between the five factors and excitement and issue oriented confronting styles, and creativity (p<0.01). Moreover, the multiple correlations between personality characteristics and excitement and issue oriented confronting styles, and creativity total score were significant. In other words, almost 66% of creativity variance is predictable by predictor variables. In addition, three factors of issue oriented confronting style, openness to experience personality trait and excitement oriented confronting style were the most important predictor variables of creativity, respectively.
