Significance and Need for Social Science Research-The Indian Scenario

Abstract

This paper deals with the present condition of Social Research in India, the latest trends prevalent in the field. A comparison between science and technology, its achievements and that of social science is attempted. Reasons for the negligence in the field of Social Science, particularly in the India context are discussed. The Problems that pose challenge to the modern men are analysed. The role of education to ignite a humanistic spirit and civic sense in humans is dealt with. There is an effort to delineate the progress achieved by social science research: Reasons for the poor quality of Social Science research in India and the ways and means to improve the same, its significance in human life and in the country's progress etc are depicted.
