Online published on 25 September, 2015. Abstract In this paper we report synthesis and luminescence study of Sr2CeO4: 0.5% Eu3+, 1.0% Gd3+. Phosphors were synthesized via Modified solid state Diffusion method. The crystallite phase, microstructure and morphology of resulting particles were studied by X-ray diffraction. The emission spectrum of Sr2CeO4: 0.5% Eu3+, 1.0% Gd3+. Phosphors consist of three peaks at on main emission peak over lapping peaks with good intensity at 467, 491, 511, 537, 557, 587 and 616 nm are observed. The CIE co-ordinates were calculated by the spectrophotometric method using the spectral energy distribution of Sr2CeO4 and Sr2CeO4 doped Eu and Gd. In particular Sr2CeO4: 0.5% Eu3+, 1.0% Gd3+ when excited at 275 nm, shows bluish white light emission, which has CIE color coordinates x = 0.33, y = 0.36. From this it is conclude that the Sr2CeO4: 0.5% Eu3+, 1.0% Gd3+ phosphor has potential for applications in display devices.
