Synthesis and biological studies of some new complexes of ZR(IV) and CD(II) with 2-Phenyl-4 Carboxy-1, 8-Naphthyridine derivatives Eldiabani Gibrel Saleh, Badr Nabil. F. Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Omar Al-Mukhtar University, Darna, Libya Online published on 21 November, 2013. Abstract Complexes of Zr (IV) and Cd (II) of substituted 2- pheny-4-carboxy-1, 8- naphthyridine have been prepared. The synthesis is based on the reaction of Zr(NO3)46H2O and Cd(NO3)24H2O with naphthyridine derivatives in absolute ethanol. The structures of the complexes obtained were assigned on the basis of their elemental analysis, molar conductance value and Infrared spectral data. Complexes of the type [Zr(L)3(H2O)3] (NO3)4 and [Cd(L)2(H2O)2](NO3)2 (where L is a substituted naphthyridine ligands) have been proposed, the ligands in these complexes behave as monodentate. The antimicrobial activities of these complexes have been screened for their antimicrobial activity against eight microorganisms; the results are shown on table 5.
