Utilization of tallow and rice bran oil in feeding broilers Purushothaman M.R., Associate Professor, Vasan P., Assistant Professor, Mohan B., Assistant Professor, Ravi R., Professor and Head Department of Animal Nutrition, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal - 637 001 (TN) Abstract A total of two hundred and ten (210) day old broiler chicks were randomly divided into 5 treatments of three replication with 14 chicks in each replicate to study the effect of tallow and rice bran oil. In a isocaloric and isonitrogenous ration tallow and rice bran oil were incorporated at 0.5 and 1% in the starter ration (0–3 weeks) and 2 and 4% in finisher ration (4–6 weeks). The study revealed that supplementation of oil or fat did not have any significant advantage when view independently in the two phases except for the higher feed intake. But the overall performance indicated that supplementation of rice bran oil had significantly higher feed intake, whereas weight gain as well as FCR were found numerically better.
