Abstract

180 day-old commercial broiler chicks were randomly distributed into four treatments and were fed ration containing mesquite pods (Prosopis juliflora) 10 (T1), 20 (T2) and 30% (T3) by replacing maize with supplementation of Polyzyme @ 0.05%, T0 group without pod and enzyme served as control. At 28 days weight gain and FCR were significant, only feed intake was insignificant. At 42 days weight gain in T1 and T2, feed intake and FCR in T3 were significantly higher than T0 group. Mortality and carcass traits were not significantly different among the various groups. The feed cost (Rs) per kg live weight gain was lower for T1 and T2 groups, over control group T0. It was inferred that mesquite pods could be replaced by maize upto 20% in multienzyme supplemented broiler diet.
