Inter-relationship among growth and conformation traits of guinea fowl Porwal Vivek, Singh Brejesh, Sharma R.K., Pandey Himanshu Department of Animal Science, College of Agriculture, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar - 263 145 (UA) Abstract The records on body weight at 0,4,8, 12 and 16 weeks, shank length, keel length and breast angle at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age were collected from 359 indigenous guinea fowls maintained at Poultry Research Centre of G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. The genetic and phenotypic correlations were calculated among growth traits, conformation traits and between growth and conformation traits at various ages. Phenotypic and genetic correlations among growth traits ranged from 0.006 to 0.70 and 0.33 to 1.00, respectively. Genetic and phenotypic correlations among conformation traits ranged from 0 to 1.00 and 0.01 to 0.49, respectively, whereas genetic and phenotypic correlations between growth and conformation traits ranged from 0.07 to 1.00 and 0.06 to 0.62, respectively. Top Key words Guinea fowl, body weights, shank length, keel length, breast angle. Top |
