Abstract The data on age at first egg, body weights at 18, 40 and 64 weeks ofage, egg weight at 28, 40 and 64 weeks ofage and antibody titer against Sheep Red Blood Cells (SRBC) at 5 days post inoculation at 64 weeks of age on 583 progeny belonging to 39 sires and 123 dams of IWI strain of White Leghorn and 406 progeny producedby 36 siresand 87 dams ofrandombredControl strain ofWhite Leghornswereanalyzed. Theeffect of hatch was significant for most of the traits studied. The IWI strain matured 4.12 days earlier and weighed significantly lower than Control strain. The heritabilities of age at first egg, body weights, egg weights at different ages and annual egg production up to 64 weeks of age were low to moderate, while the anti SRBC titers were moderately heritable. The heritability estimates were in general higher in Control strain than in IWI selectedstrain. Thegeneticandphenotypiccorrelations ofage atfirsteggwithandbodyweightsandannualegg production were negative, while the correlations between body weights and egg weights were positive. The genetic and phenotypic associations between body weights and annual egg production were in general positive and significant, while those between egg weight and annual egg production were negative and moderate in magnitude.
