Abstract Synhimantus hanumanthai sp. n. has been described and figured from Bubuleus ibis from Kotdwara, District Pauri-Garhwal, U.P. Male specimens are characterized with 9 pairs of caudal papillae (6 pairs preanal; 3 pairs postanal), unequal, dissimilar spicules, longer left spicule with swollen root and terminating in to spine, caudal alae present. Female specimens with vulva close to anus, oval eggs, embryonated and invaginated tail within a prepuce like sheath of cuticle.
