Abstract

Carbofuran residues were detectable in soil for 105 days when the nematicide was applied @ 2 kg a.l./ha, with the rate of dissipation faster in the later period as the half life was found as 10.4 days as against half of 19.5 in the first 60 days. The residues in plants persisted for 90 days and in the roots it increased gradually till 75 days (3.2 ug/g). In the shoots, maximum concentration was achieved in 7 days after germination. No residues could be detected in green pods. The application of the nematicide resulted in population reduction of soil nematodes.
