Screening of drugs in biological samples by ion mobility spectrometry Shukla S. K.1, Srivastava A. K., Bharti1 1Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Directorate of Forensic Science, MHA, GOI Ramanthapur, Hyderabad. Summary Rapid screening of drugs in biological samples is of great significance in over drugging/drug abuse cases. Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) is one of the fast, precise and reliable technique sensitive for detection of certain drugs upto pico gram level. While no sample preparation is required, results are available within 6–8 seconds. In this paper an attempt is made to analyze gastric lavage samples of over-drugging cases along with standard reference samples of some drugs like, Diazepam, Amphetamine, Phenobarbitone, THC, Cocaine, MDMA, & Methaqalone. The identifying feature of this technique is characteristic reduced ion mobility, which is an intrinsic property of the particular ion. Top | |
