Abstract

Pyrimethamine is potent antimalarial drug against blood schizonticides of plasmodium. It is highly implicit in treating chloroquine resistant intermittent malaria. Despite its role as remedy to malaria, varied side effects owing to over dosage or drug reactions accounts for Pyrimethamine. The present study comprises a comprehensive analysis of Pyrimethamine. The drug was extracted from vomit using solid phase extraction and subjected to GC-MS for determination. Solid phase extraction is extremely sensitive & hyphenated technique for extraction of Pyrimethamine from forensic samples. The optimum separation was achieved using gas chromatography. Further detection was performed using Mass spectrometry. The limit of quantitation and limit of detection were found to be 0.26 μg/ml and 0.08 μg/ml respectively.
