Study of suicidal death: In Rural Region of Beed District of Maaharashtra Chavan KD, Lecturer, Kachare RV, Lecturer, Goli SK, Associate Professor and Head Department of Forensic Medicine, S.R.T.R. Medical College, Ambajogai, Dist. Beed, India, Pin: 431 517. Abstract During the study period of five years (1994–98), the total numbers of autopsies conducted were 2105. Amongst them 404 (19.19%) were suicidal death. All these cases were statistically analysed on the basis of age, sex, marital status and various causes of committing suicide. Highest number of suicidal deaths were seen in 19–32 years' age group. Poisoning was the commonest method chosen. The married males committed suicide mainly due to chronic illness. Amongst married females the major cause for committing suicide was torture by in laws. Failure in examination was found a unique cause of committing suicide in most of unmarried males and females of 14–18 years' age group. Similarities and difference to large scale studies are discussed. Top Key words Suicide, torture. Top | |
