Blakeslea Blight of Vegetable Seedlings

Summary

Symptoms of blight disease of transplanted seedlings of cauliflower, brinjal, tomato and chillies caused by Blakeslea trispora are described. The pathogen attacks all the aerial parts of the plants particularly foliage causing wet rot and blight, leading to premature death of the plants under favourable conditions of temperature and humidity. The seedlings remain susceptible to infection till about 15 days after transplanting.
