Productivity of Sub-Tropical Peach Cultivars 1. Bearing Potential of Various Type of Shoots Chitkara S. D., Singh K. Department of Horticulture, Haryana Agricultural University, Hissar Summary Bearing potential of four types of shoots viz. less than one year old, one year old axillary, one year old terminal and two year old wood in eleven sub-tropical peach cultivars was studied. It was observed that one year old wood from axillary buds was much more productibe than shoots of samee age from terminal bud (next to pruning cut,). In cultivars Safeda, Dwarf Golden Treasure, Peach Dwarf, Australian Dwarf even less than a year old wood (of last July flush) bore flowers whereas, in Sharbati, Safeda, Pishori Gola, Matchless, Nectarine Sunred, even 2 year old wood carried flowers and fruits but in these shoots number of fruits per unit shoot length was 1/8th of the most productive shoots i.e. one year old axillary growth.
