Summary

The effects of foliar application of growth retardants, cycocel and Alar, each at 5000 ppm at monthly intervals on rate of respiration, chlorophyll and carotenoid pigment contents of mango leaves in relation to flowering were studied. Both retardants reduced the rate of respiration, and increased the chlorophyll, carotene and xanthophyll contents of leaves at all stages of observation, finally leading to enhanced flowering in mango var. Mulgoa.
