Studies on Pollination in Cucurbitaceae1 Shah R. C.2, Patel R. M. Division of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Institute of Agriculture, Anand 2Present address: Surhid Geigy Ltd., Ranoli (W. Rly.).
1A part of the thesis submitted by the senior author to Sardar Vallabhbhai Vidyapeeth in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Agriculture. Summary In order to study the effect of pollination methods on the fruit yield of certain cucurbitaceous crops, an investigation was taken up at the Institute of Agriculture, Anand, during the years 1958 and 1959. Artificial pollination by hand can increase the fruit set in crops like Dudhi, Kola, Kakri and Parwar; it has no adverse effect on the fruit weight. Thus, by adopting artificial pollination by hand, the yield of Dudhi, Kola, Kakri and Parwar can be increased. Top | |
