Summary

Chlorophyll and viable mutation frequency was calculated in the M2 progenies of Triticum dicoccum var. Khapli treated with different dosages of ethyl-methane sulfonate (EMS) and hydroxylamine (HA), either individually or in combination. At the concentrations tried, HA proved to be a weak and EMS a potent mutagen both in normal plants of Khapli as well as in an induced chlorina mutant. The frequency of mutations was very much reduced in combined treatments of EMS and HA. It is suggested that recovery rather than induction may present problems in obtaining positive synergistic effects.
