Effect of altitude on some blood biochemical profile of 15 months old non-pregnant crossbred heifers Kumar Bhuvnesh, Kumar Narendra Defence Agricultural Research Laboratory, Pithoragarh-262 501, India. Abstract Plasma profile of calcium, inorganic phosphorus, magnesium, copper, managanese, zinc, cobalt, total proteins, albumin, globulins, A: G ratio, total lipids, cholesterol, blood glucose, plasma urea nitrogen (PUN), uric acid, creatinine and plasma bilirubin was studied in 15 months old non-pregnant crossbred heifers (Holstein Friesian × Sahiwal) at 270 and 1700 m altitudes from mean sea level. Significantly higher plasma copper, iron, zinc (P<0.01) and A: G ratio (P<0.05) were recorded in heifers maintained at 270m altitude in comparison to those at 1700m altitude, whereas higher globulins, uric acid, creatinine (P<0.01) and PUN (P<0.05) were recorded in heifers maintained at 1700 m altitude.
