Online published on 8 April, 2015. Abstract It is generally believed that mushroom production declines rapidly after the 2nd flush because specific nutrients are depleted from the compost. New mycelium, formed after fragmentation, is able to utilize additional nutrients in the compost that were not accessible in the 1st crop. This experiment was conducted to test fragmentation and supplementation effects on button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus Sing). Supplementation was addition of 0 or 40 g of soybean meal and rice bran to the substrate and casing soil. Supplementation and fragmentation had no beneficial effects than current production procedures are not recommended for use.
