Online published on 8 April, 2015. Abstract An experiment was conducted to assess the genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance as percent of mean for yield and quality attributing traits in vegetable type cluster bean at the Department of Horticulture, University Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Bengaluru, Karnataka. All the tested genotypes showed the existence of large amount of variability for most of the characters. The phenotypic variance was higher than genotypic variance for all the characters studied. High heritability coupled with high GAM was observed for the characters like number of leaves, branches, pods per plant, clusters per plant, pod length, yield per plant this indicates the influence of additive gene action for these traits. None of the characters recorded low heritability, but total chlorophyll content recorded low high genetic advance with high heritability.
