Abstract Seasonal abundance of adult mushroom flies during January-March (2008 and 2009) revealed that the maximum population of sciarid flies was observed when the temperature was in the range of 9–20°C, whereas maximum population of phorid flies was observed in the temperature range of 18.5–23°C Phorid flies showed significant positive correlation with the temperature, whereas the sciarid flies had positive but non-significant correlation with temperature during the cropping periods of January-March (2008 and 2009).
