Genetics of Quantitative Traits in Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) Singh Gurpreet Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, C.S. Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur Abstract The experiment comprising 45 F1,s, 45 F2s and 10 parents was laid in a randomized block design with three replications at C.S. Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur. Observations were recorded on twleve metric traits and analyzed through diallel cross analysis excluding reciprocals. Dominant alleles were more frequent for most of the traits. Unequal distribution of negative and positive alleles among parents was found for all the traits. All the characters were controlled by more than one major gene group. Both additive and non-additive gene action were found important for the inheritance of most of the traits.
