Panhekar Deepa, Sawant Trupti Chemistry Research Center, Dr Ambedkar College, Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur-440010, India Online published on 14 November, 2019. Abstract Annona squamosa Linn., commonly called as custard apple, belongs to the family Annonaceae. The plant has been proven to be of medicinal importance having anti-ovulatory, anti-diabetic and anticancer potential. Present investigation deals with detection of chemical compounds obtained from methanolic leaf extracts of Annona squamosa. The GC-MS analysis revealed major peaks for 1, 2-Benzoldicarbonsaeure, di-(hex-1-en-5-yl-ester) (43.22%, 15.22%) and 3-[2-(4, 6-dioxo-2-thioxotetrahydro-5(2h) pyrimidinylidene) hydrazino]benzoic acid (11.18%). Other compounds detected during analysis were oleic acid, benzoic acid, 2-hydroxy-6-methyl-, Bis(2ethylhexyl) phthalate and morpholine derivatives which justify its medicinal importance.
