Abstract

Effect of different agro-wastes on the lysine and riboflavin content in different Pleurotus spp. was evaluated after third harvest. The results indicated that the highest mean lysine content (7.4 mg/100g) was recorded in P. flabellatus followed by P. eous (6.7 mg/100g). Mixture of Cotton + paddy straw had helped to accumulate maximum mean lysine content in P. flabellatus (8.2 mg/100g). The highest mean riboflavin content was evident wih P. sajor-caju (48.2 mg/100g) followed by P. eous (26.3 mg/100g). The riboflavin content in P. sajor-caju was highest (49.5 mg/100g) when grown on soybean straw followed by combination of cotton + wheat straw (49.4 mg/100g). The mean lysine and riboflavin content of P. sapidus was lowest when cultivated on various agro-wastes. Therefore, to get availability of amino acids specially lysine and riboflavin, Pleurotus mushroom can be used in human diet.
