Evaluation of Azadirachta indica and Mentha piperata extracts against Chilo auricilius dudgeon Mumtaz Rashid, Kumar Suneel, Khan M.A. Bio-control Lab. Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture, G. B. Pant Univ. of Agri. & Tech., Pantnagar 263 145, India. Abstract The methanol extract of Azadirachta indica and Mentha piperata were found to be effective and reduced oviposition up to 12.3 eggs/female while petroleum ether extract of Mentha piperata 22.6 eggs/female, respectively. At 20% concentration of methanol extract of both plants also gave lowest larval survival (55.0, 52,3. 52.3 and 64.0, 64.0, 63.0% larval survival) at 24, 48 and 72 hrs of exposures. The petroleum ether extract of A. indica at 8, 10 and 20% concentrations survival of eggs were 60.0, 55.0 and 52.0%, whereas chloroform extract at the similar concentrations gave 74.0, 72.0 and 70.0% survival of eggs, respectively. The survival of three days old eggs was recorded up to 70.0% followed by petroleum ether (71.0) methanol (72.0) and distilled water (73.0) extracts. Top Key words Azadirachta indica, Chilo auricilius, Mentha piperata. Top |
