Online published on 2 January, 2017. Abstract The key to an efficient screening method is the ability to screen large amounts of plant material in the shortest time possible. The research reported herein was designed to evaluate a screening method for drought tolerance in lathyrus seedlings. Eighty ninegermplasm were evaluated for drought tolerance which was taken from Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding IGKV, Raipur(C.G.) during Rabi 2014–15. Among all the germplasm line, accession number RLK-9, RLK-24, RLK-29, RLK-30, RLK-40, RLK46, RLK-51, RLK-78, RLK-81, RLK-83, RLK-150, RLK169, RLK-296, RLK-310, RLK-345, RLK-513, RLK-580, RLK-581, RLK-962 and RLK-991has high leaf area(cm2), high Relative Water Content (RWC), more biomass of 30 days old seedling (g), high length of 30 days and 60 days old seedling (cm), noleaf roll (NLR) and high harvest index.
