Abstract In Indian socio-economic structure, varna system initiated the division labour on the basis of their worth. In course of time, it became heridatory and stabled as occupational based social groups and they became caste based occupation. In the process of civilization, caste based occupations have been playing vital role in India in general and south India in particular. Among them artisancastes and most important in agricultural economic society as well as domestic needs. They emerged as industries from domestic sector involved in growth and development of society these artisan or crafts not alone transformed to generation to another generation in domestic training but also with the help of training centres and their masterly works.
