Abstract MSME sector is considered to be an effective vehicle for generation of productive investment and employment in the country. As the country is constantly and consistently experiencing the growing demand for employment of the growing generations as well as the migrants, this sector is seen to be a viable and promising one that has the potential to provide employment in productive off-farm activities. In spite of this, the sector faces a number of infrastructural, marketing, financial and other constraints and challenges which put bottlenecks in the way to achieve a faster growth of this sector. Among the other constraints, inadequate access to financial resources is the most critical factor which makes the growth of MSMEs vulnerable, risky and uncertain. This paper is an attempt to discuss the investment and employment generated by the MSME sector in India as well as the state and the financial availability to the sector and challenges to avail it.
