Abstract

Security is a critical issue in this real world due to increase the internet users. New types of attacks are coming to the network daily. Hence, it is necessary to develop new security mechanisms to provide more security in networks by detecting and preventing the known and unknown attacks. For identifying and detecting the known and novel attacks, it is necessary to know the importance and the relationship between the various features. Feature selection and classification are useful technique to identify and detect the intruders in data mining. For that purpose, this work introduces a new feature selection algorithm called Intelligent Agent based Incremental Feature Selection Algorithm (IAIFSA) for effective intrusion detection in MANET. Moreover, we used Hidden Semi-Markov Model (HSMM) for effective classification. The experiments have been conducted with KDD 1999 Cup Dataset for evaluating the proposed work.
